Staff internal induction workshop concluded successfully 🙌

We had a vibrant weekend training for teachers at Kasese Humanist Primary School.

Our target was reviewing teachers ethics, teaching methods, classroom management, lesson planning, and school administration.

The facilitator's were good colleagues with high experience in the curriculum development for pri-primary and primary education.

The knowledge shared was golden, the teachers were able to make inquiries and got guidance for generating better lessons.

The sessions were all lively and on target, this is meant to make more good use of the resources at KaseseHumanistSchools - the text books and classrooms.

We give credit and appreciations to Uganda Humanist Schools Trust and school director Bwambale Musubaho Robert for the selfless facilitations and guidance, you're golden. See some captured moments...

Child Sponsorship benefits

Kasese Humanist School has a thriving child sponsorship program and it serves the following benefits to both the sponsor, and the sponsored child.

Child sponsorship provides a wide range of benefits, both for the sponsored child and the sponsor. Here are some key benefits:

For the Sponsored Child:

1. Access to Education: Sponsorship helps provide the child with an opportunity to attend school, ensuring they have the necessary resources like uniforms, books, and school fees covered.

Access to Education

2. Better Health Care: Many sponsorship programs offer access to medical care, vaccinations, and regular health check-ups, ensuring the child grows up healthy.

3. Nutritional Support: Sponsorship can provide access to nutritious meals, which is especially important in regions where food insecurity is common.

4. Improved Quality of Life: With financial support, sponsored children can live in better conditions, such as safer housing, access to clean water, and hygienic environments.

5. Emotional Support: Children often feel a strong sense of connection and encouragement from knowing that someone cares about them, leading to increased self-esteem and motivation.

6. Increased Opportunities: By having access to education, healthcare, and social services, sponsored children are more likely to break the cycle of poverty, leading to a brighter future and the potential to contribute to their community.

For the Sponsor:

1. Sense of Fulfillment: Sponsors often experience personal satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment knowing that their support is helping improve the life of a child.

2. Cultural Exchange: Sponsors can learn about a different culture and country, broadening their perspectives and understanding of the world.

3. Building Relationships: Many sponsorship programs allow for ongoing communication, enabling sponsors to develop a personal connection with the child they sponsor.

4. Making a Tangible Difference: Sponsors can directly see the impact of their contribution, whether through updates, letters, or stories about the child's progress.

5. Becoming Part of a Larger Mission: Sponsorship often connects individuals to global efforts, where they can be part of a network working towards improving children's lives worldwide.

Long-term Impact:

Breaking the Cycle of Poverty: Sponsorship offers children a path out of poverty, benefiting not only the child but also their community as educated, healthy individuals contribute to economic and social growth.

Community Development: By supporting children, sponsors indirectly help develop local infrastructures, such as schools, clinics, and community centers, fostering long-term community improvement.

In sum, child sponsorship benefits both the child and the sponsor, creating a ripple effect that leads to broader community and societal improvements.

The plight of orphans

Pupils at Kasese Humanist School Muhokya displays their balls in jubilation

The plight of orphans is a deeply challenging issue that affects millions of children around the world.

Orphans, those who have lost one or both parents, often face numerous hardships, including emotional trauma, lack of proper care, and limited access to basic needs like food, shelter, and education.

Key Challenges Faced by Orphans:

1. Emotional and Psychological Impact: The loss of a parent or both can lead to profound emotional trauma. Orphans may experience grief, depression, and feelings of abandonment. Many struggle with attachment issues and have a higher risk of mental health problems.

2. Lack of Basic Needs: Orphans are often deprived of a stable home, nutritious food, proper clothing, and healthcare. Without the support of their parents, they may live in orphanages or on the streets, where their basic needs might not be adequately met.

3. Educational Barriers: Education is a fundamental right, but many orphans, particularly in impoverished or conflict-stricken regions, face obstacles to schooling. They may not have the financial resources to attend school or may have to work to survive, preventing them from receiving an education.

4. Vulnerability to Exploitation: Orphans, particularly those in underdeveloped regions or areas affected by conflict, are vulnerable to exploitation, including child labor, trafficking, and abuse. Without the protection of a family, they may become easy targets for criminal activities.

5. Lack of Social Support: Many orphans grow up without the emotional and financial support of extended family or a community. This can result in feelings of isolation and a lack of opportunities for a better life

Efforts to Address the Issue:

There have been efforts by our Charity Kasese Humanist School Limited, we have helped in the following ways:

Establishing the child sponsorship program where needy and less fortunate orphans have been enrolled in our schools.

We have extended food , shelter, medical care , dressed some as a gesture of having their welfare improved.

We continue to offer vocational skills as in gardening,  carpentry,  welding,  auto mechanics,  tailoring and craft making so as to earn a living in the future.

We have over the years identified potential sponsors who have supported some orphans education and lucky ones offered start up capital to begin work  and sustain themselves independently.
