Tribute to Davida Lecomte

Davida lecomte

A SPECIAL MESSAGE AND TRIBUTE TO A LOST FRIEND, MOTHER TO ALL.aa we close the year 2025

Tribute to Davida Lecomte – A Friend and Benefactor of Kasese Humanist School

Today, I wish to publicly express our deep gratitude and remembrance of Davida Lecomte, a remarkable humanist and philanthropist who supported Kasese Humanist School in its earlier years.

Her generosity and commitment to humanist values played a critical role in shaping the foundation and growth of our school.

Through Davida’s support, classrooms were constructed at a time when the school urgently needed safe and permanent learning spaces. These structures did more than house lessons; they restored hope, stability, and dignity to children who had very limited chances of accessing quality education.

Her contribution helped create an environment where learning could truly thrive.

Beyond infrastructure, Davida sponsored scores of vulnerable and orphaned children at Kasese Humanist School over several years. Because of her kindness, many children received education, meals, scholastic materials, and care.

Some of the children she supported are still under our care today, continuing their studies with determination and hope, while others have successfully completed their education and graduated, now living productive and independent lives. Her impact continues to echo through their achievements.

Sadly, over time, we lost contact with Davida. This message is shared with sincere hope that anyone who knows her whereabouts, or has information about her current status, can help reconnect us.

We believe friends and colleagues within the Humanist Canada community, and the wider humanist network, may be aware of what happened to her and could help keep us informed, whether she is alive or has sadly passed on.

If Davida is still with us, we would be deeply grateful for the opportunity to reconnect and personally express how far her support has carried us. If she has passed on, we wish to honor her #memory and #legacy properly, knowing that her #compassion transformed many lives and will never be forgotten.

On behalf of Kasese Humanist School , Kasese Humanist Orphans, Municipal High Humanist School our students, alumni, staff, and community, we remain forever thankful.

Davida Lecomte’s kindness lives on in every child who learned within the classrooms she helped build and in every future shaped by the education she made possible. Our school project is still shining and growing stronger but we dearly miss her and is always in our memories.

Am sharing a picture of her that she shared with me here.

Fixing fascia boards on hostel units

Kasese Humanist School continues to make steady progress on the dormitory extension building, with fascia boards currently being fitted as part of the roof finishing works. This stage marks an important step toward completing the structure and improving its overall quality.

Fascia boards play a vital functional role by providing a strong resting surface for gutters. This ensures proper installation and support, which is especially important for effective rainwater harvesting during heavy rains. Well-supported gutters help collect and channel rainwater efficiently, contributing to sustainable water use at the school.

In addition to their practical benefits, fascia boards greatly improve the appearance of the building. They give the dormitory extension a neat, complete, and attractive finish, enhancing the school’s environment for learners. These ongoing improvements reflect Kasese Humanist School’s commitment to creating safe, durable, and appealing facilities for its students.

Attached are some images of the fascia boards fixing on the dormitory extension buildings.

2025 Annual report for Kasese Humanist School

Kasese Humanist School – Highlights of 2025

As we close the year, we’re excited to share the key moments, achievements, and progress made at Kasese Humanist School throughout 2025. It has been a year of growth, meaningful partnerships, and renewed energy toward improving education for our learners.

Ceiling works on the dormitory extension for Girls

Dormitory Extension Project: Nearing the Finish Line

One of our biggest undertakings this year has been the Boys Dormitory Extension. Major progress was achieved, including:

Roofing completed

Gables fixed

Concrete slab floors installed

Plastering works underway

Doors and windows to be added soon

General finishing works coming soon as well

This new facility will give more learners a safe and secure place to stay, especially those who travel long distances.

Science Week pictures

Science Week Shines Again

Science Week 2025 was a major highlight. Learners showcased creativity through experiments, demonstrations, and innovation challenges. The event strengthened curiosity and hands-on learning—core values of our humanist approach.

Supporting Girls with Dignity

We continued distributing sanitary pads to our female learners, helping them stay confident and comfortable in school. This simple but essential program has reduced absenteeism and improved academic consistency.

A Growing Library Thanks to UHST

We were grateful to receive new books from our long-time friends at UHST. These additions enriched our library and created a better environment for reading and independent research.

Environmental Stewardship Through Tree Planting

Our tree-planting campaign continued to flourish, with hundreds of new trees added around the school. This ongoing effort encourages our learners to care for their environment and contribute to a greener future.

Stronger Learning Through Better Resources

Thanks to supporters from Scientific Temper and other well-wishers, the school secured new science materials, solar installations, and learning tools that directly improved classroom experiences.

Making good usage of the SCHOOL KITCHEN at Municipal High Humanist School,  the facility was made possible with support from the school director Bwambale Robert Musubaho

Looking Ahead to 2026

Our goals for the coming year include:

Strengthening ICT and science instruction

Expanding sponsorships for vulnerable learners

Enhancing teacher development.

Improving school infrastructure and solar power capacity.

Solving the high water bills challenges at the Rukoki campus.

Boys dormitory extension project

The Boys Dormitory Extension Project at Kasese Humanist School is moving steadily toward completion. Plastering works are currently in progress, giving the building a clean and refined finish.

The gables have been fully fixed, the concrete slab floors have been completed and only one room is remaining, and the roofing installation is now fully done.

With the structure secured, the next phase will involve installing doors and windows. These additions will mark a major step toward making the facility ready for final touches and eventual use by our learners early next year.

In a related development,  I have also facelifted some unused bigger room and have added a ceiling and will serve as an extension of the Girls dormitory.

We extend our appreciation to all supporters who continue to make this project possible.

Together with combined effort,  we can make a lasting difference in the lives of our learners,  the staffs and the entire community.

With Science, we can progress.

Attached are hand picked snapshots of the ongoing project.
