Floods have hit Kasese district after three major rivers in burst their banks. The rivers Nyamwamba in Kasese town, Mubuku in Ibanda-Kyanya town council and River Nyamughasana in Kyalhumba sub County.
The floods follow a heavy downpour that pounded the district on Tuesday and Wednesday.
According to residents Nyamwamba overflew at Bunyandiko in Kilembe Sub County flooding in the low land areas of the town. The entire Nyamwamba valley hosting the areas of Road Barrier, Nganji, Basecamp, Kibenge, Kisagazi and Nyakasanga, is experiencing the flooding profusely. Kyanzuki Bridge on River Nyamwamba has also been swept away.
Effect of the floods on Kasese Humanist projects:
- The school buildings at Rukoki not affected by the floods.

- A big chunk of sand deposited at the southern end of the property.

At our Kilembe garden where i normally get matooke to feed the children - a half of the garden was swept away leaving a huge deposit of stones.

My worries:
Most families of parents who give us children badly affected with others having houses swept away.
Some are taking refugee at designated points or joined relatives in other safer places around Kasese town.
Corvid19 pandemic is still with us so people are struggling to survive.
There is fear of disease outbreak since many toilets have broken down, stagnant water and stench could pose another hazard.
